The group started innocently enough with a get-together for about 6 women. Anne wanted to curb some of the anxiety surrounding the inauguration of Donald Trump in January of 2025. Since the day was also Martin Luther King Day, she invited like-minded women to her home for a luncheon to celebrate the life of Dr. King. A guest at the event thought it was a good idea and opened her home for a Valentine's Day luncheon the following month. Each brought a dish and some invited friends. The group grew to eleven, and the urge to organize was born. The gatherings quickly outgrew private homes and moved to a local restaurant. Soon thereafter, the group merged with another women’s group, which grew our numbers from 11 to over 50. In our first six months, we have grown to approximately 100 women on our membership list! The energy, connection, and shared sense of purpose have drawn more women to join. This early growth shows how deeply the need is felt for community, support, and collective action—and it’s only the beginning!
